Dentures

Dentures are custom-made devices used to replace full or partial sets of teeth; they allow you to comfortably speak and eat after losing multiple teeth. There are different types of dentures that are offered, including full, implant-retained, and fixed partial dentures:

  • Full Dentures – Full removable dentures are meant to replace full sets of teeth; the top half of the denture covers the palate, or the roof of your mouth. The bottom half fits over your lower gums and leaves a space to accommodate your tongue.
  • Fixed Partial Dentures – Fixed partial dentures align prosthetic teeth on a metal framework that are attachable to present natural teeth. These types of dentures can be used as a substitute for bridges.
  • Implant-Retained Dentures – Implant-retained dentures are attached to a foundation that is surgically fixed to the jawbone. These are a more permanent form of dentures and are sought after because of their stability.

Why Do We Need Dentures?

Dentures may become necessary if you have lost all of your natural teeth. This can occur over time, either from instances of tooth decay, injury, or otherwise. Dentures not only restore your smile, they also provide structure to your facial muscles and jaw that can be affected by the loss of many teeth. Dentures also help you chew and speak normally again.

Denture Procedure

First, we will remove your remaining teeth to make room for the dentures to fit. Later, after your gums have fully healed, we will then schedule a second appointment in which we will create a mold using impressions of your teeth. We will then send these molds to a dental laboratory that will create a customized set of dentures for you. On your next visit with us, we will perform a denture fitting to ensure the new dentures fit properly and are comfortable for you.

oral function

Dentures are designed to restore the function of your teeth. They enable proper chewing, which is crucial for digestion and overall health. Additionally, dentures can improve speech and prevent the facial sagging that often occurs with tooth loss, supporting your facial muscles for a more youthful appearance.
